Michael J. Loughman

Michael has been practicing as an attorney for over 49 years. In his first four years of practice as an Ohio Assistant Attorney General, he helped to establish Ohio’s first Medicaid Fraud Unit. For the past 45 years Michael has been primarily practicing in the areas of labor, school, and municipal law. Michael has concentrated on Title VII investigations and defenses, Title IX investigations and defenses, NLRB and SERB administrative hearings, bargaining unit determinations, investigations and defenses under the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Americans with Disabilities Act and defending clients sued for civil rights violations.

Accomplishments:
Michael has participated as a management representative in over 500 private and public sector clients’ collective bargaining negotiations. Michael is a 1973 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the State of Ohio as well as all the U.S. District Courts in Ohio, U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Michael is rated AV in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the highest peer review ratings given for legal ability and ethical standards.
Michael was voted Lorain County Deanery Holy Name Society “Man of the Year” for 2006 based on his work with the homeless and the sick
Admission:
Michael was a member of the Lorain County Bar Association Executive Committee from 1993-2000 and president of the Lorain County Bar Association in 1998-1999. From 1983-1998, Michael was an adjunct professor of School Law at Ashland University; and from 1996-1999 he was an adjunct professor of School Law at Akron University, as well as guest lecturer of School Law at Bowling Green University from 2002-2005. He also belongs to many professional organizations concerning his primary areas of practice. Michael also authored OSBA Resolution Book (Ohio School Boards Association, 1987).
