Labor and Employment
People are our business.
Employees are the cornerstone of our commercial clients’ businesses. Our clients consider their employees like family, which means they want to make careful hiring, discipline and termination decisions. We have a team of experienced professionals ready to assist with these and other labor and employment matters.
Dooley Gembala’s experience with the statutes and regulations governing the workplace will give you the peace of mind to focus on your business and its customers. The lawyers at Dooley Gembala regularly represent clients on matters involving the Civil Rights Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination in Employment Act, the Uniformed Service Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and many other state and federal statutes. Dooley Gembala has successfully represented its business clients before the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the State Employment Relations Board, and the Industrial Commission of Ohio, and regularly protects its clients’ interests during OSHA and BWC investigations. When matters proceed to litigation, Dooley Gembala represents commercial clients in state and federal courts throughout the United States.
Dooley Gembala has also spent more than fifty years representing management interests in collective bargaining with private and public sector unions. The firm’s experience includes responding to requests to bargain and unfair labor practice claims, contract negotiations, and grievance and arbitration proceedings. We also work closely with clients on employee discipline and discharge matters, including pre-disciplinary letters, employee investigations, discipline determinations, and appellate matters.
In addition to individual employee matters, Dooley Gembala works with clients to develop employment policies, safety programs, and employee handbooks to govern conduct in the workplace. To keep clients abreast of changes in the employment law landscape, Dooley Gembala regularly conducts training seminars and prepares written updates for clients to ensure legal compliance.
