Overview
A resident of Avon, Russ McLaughlin has been engaged in the practice of law in the Lorain County, Cuyahoga County and surrounding areas since 1974. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree (BBA) from Cleveland State University in 1971 and his Juris Doctor (JD) from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1974. During law school, he served on the Moot Court team and the Moot Court Board.

Russ McLaughlin is a director of Dooley Gembala McLaughlin Pecora. Russ is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Lorain County Bar Association and the Florida Bar. He has been privileged since 2002 to have a rating of AV in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, which is the highest peer review rating given for legal ability and ethical standards.
He is a member of the North Coast Chamber of Commerce, the Avon Historical Society and the North Olmsted Sportsman’s Club and has served on several boards including The Community Foundation of Lorain County, Northeastern Professional Family Services, Inc. and the Avon Women’s Club Student Loan Fund.
Accomplishments
In addition to the civil practice of law, Russ has served as Special Counsel for two Ohio attorneys general, assistant prosecutor in the Lorain Municipal Court, Magistrate for the Lorain Municipal Court, acting judge in the Avon Lake and Lorain Municipal Courts, Law Director for the City of Avon, Special Counsel for the cities of Avon and Elyria, and counsel to the Avon Charter Review Commission.
His teaching experience includes real estate law and business law courses at the Lorain County Community College, the Lorain Business College and the Ohio Paralegal Institute. He has also been a presenter at bar association seminars on probate and estate planning subjects.
