Douglas R. Henry

Doug Henry practices in the firm’s Domestic Relations and Probate Practice Groups. He graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany in 1996 and thereafter, worked in the New York State Department Environmental Conservation Legislative Affairs office. While attending Albany Law School, Doug worked for the Counsel to the Governor. Upon graduation from Albany Law School Doug practiced in New York City until relocating to Ohio in 2007. While in New York, Doug focused his practice on Litigation and Matrimonial Law. He was one of two attorneys in his New York office that handled the firm’s appeals and he argued in the Supreme Court, Appellate Division Second Department on behalf of large insurance companies.
Doug has been practicing Family Law and Divorce since 2002. He has served on the boards for the Cuyahoga County Guardian ad Litem Project and Voices for Children in Lorain County. Currently, he is a member of the Lorain County Bar Association Executive Committee. Doug has published articles on Domestic Relations, Probate and Juvenile law topics in publications such as the Domestic Relations Journal of Ohio and the Lorain County Legal Times. His recent articles explore the overlap between Probate and Family Law practice. He is a member of the Center for Principled Family Advocacy and is a trained collaborative law practitioner.
Doug is passionate about preserving familial bonds throughout the Family Law process and minimizing negative outcomes for children. He is a certified divorce mediator and parenting coordinator. Doug offers his clients a wide variety of creative and nuanced solutions to their Family Law challenges.
Doug has been married to his wife, Caroline for 18 wonderful years. Caroline is an Executive at a Cleveland-based pharmaceutical company. Together they have two children who keep them busy outside of work. The family is passionate about outdoor activities and their dogs, Captain Pete and Gus and their cat, Mia.
